Causes Canker Sores

The cause of canker sores is the fungus Candida albicans. This fungus usually does in the mouth in small amounts, but would lead to thrush if growth becomes uncontrolled. Some trigger factors are:


- Oral hygiene is not maintained properly.

- Decreased immune system, for example in patients with HIV or in people who are undergoing chemotherapy.

- The use of antibiotics.

- Corticosteroid use, for example in patients with asthma, arthritis, and cancer.

- The use of dentures with the size does not fit or that are not cleaned regularly.

- The use of drugs that can reduce the production of saliva.

- Suffer from diabetes.

- Nutritional deficiencies, such as vitamin B or iron.

- Smoke.
